iMac 2010 27" i3 Display going black\blank

hi,

My grandparents iMac of 6 years started to develop this “fault” in recent weeks. Its running macOS SIerra since OCT 26 when it updated automatically.

I am able to TeamView it when remotely accesing it and I can see the desktop and can use the iMac no issues. They on the other hand cant see anything, the display is blank.

When turning the iMac on, it does come up with the chime and the apple logo does display all the way until it shows the desktop for few seconds and then it goes blank :frowning:

What steps should I take to diagnose the fault\issue first. They live in a state where there is no Apple stores, only MAC1 authorised service, are they any good?

much appreciated,
Marcin

This is a very common issue with 27-inch iMac from that era unfortunately. :frowning:

Thank you…I’m slowly reading through the tread. ohhh no, they are going to be so disappointed if we can’t fix it at reasonable price. :frowning:
