MacBook Pro 15 SSD replacement

My MacBook Pro SSD crashed and burned today, 2015 model but still doing the job as a desktop. Anyone know where I can get a replacement on the weekend in Melbourne so I can rebuild it before Monday?

That might be quite hard to achieve considering it’s a custom Apple SSD and far as I’m aware there’s only 3 companies that make aftermarket versions.

You could ring around to some of the Apple repair shops in your city to see if any of them have any in stock otherwise you’re going to have to order it online from someone in Australia or from an overseas company.

You could use something like this and then just use a standard M.2 SSD https://www.aliexpress.com/item/M-key-M-2-PCIe-AHCI-SSD-Adapter-Card-for-2013-2014-2015-2017-MACBOOK-Air/32978384615.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.81.35af72691yQX7v&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_6_10065_10068_10547_319_10059_10884_317_10548_10887_10696_321_322_10084_453_10083_454_10103_10618_10307_537_536,searchweb201603_35,ppcSwitch_0&algo_expid=5175934e-a8c0-4dc4-9285-cefbeaa474e4-12&algo_pvid=5175934e-a8c0-4dc4-9285-cefbeaa474e4 I’ve use one of these in a MacBook Air and it worked fine.

That one won’t fit (too thick). You’d need this Sinetech one which attaches to the end of the SSD blade.

I ordered one direct a while back and it worked great. Took like 4 weeks to come. Apparently if you order the same thing from them on eBay it’s faster.
