Netflix clamping down on geo-dodgers

Hm. I’m with getflix. Am constantly getting issues with the DNS set in my aTV3.

Probably not going to renew :frowning:

Works great on the MBP however…

Okay, the Getflix lifetime subscription deal is still on.

You can get it here:

I’ve just signed up to see how it goes. Thanks all for sharing.

UPDATE: Getflix seems to working very well just using the DNS, and has a great Mac app that does the configuration for you it seems. No problems so far on the MBP.

@thebookfreak: using ipv6? If so that is causing issues apparently.

Thanks for the tip Erwin. Just purchased. A word of warning… if you already have an account it errors out applying the code.

I’ve asked support if I really need to create a new getflix account.

I don’t think so? It may be enabled in my APX but I didn’t think TPG supported IPv6?

I dont know, I just read in whingepool that i can be a problem.

Yes, you need a new one. I have a second account on the lifetime, I’m using the other for now, it expires in October. It doesnt matter really, I just havent got round to switching them over. My “lifetime” is until 2046, and thats longer than a lifetime for me, I’ll be long dead by then.

No worries, happy to share. Only 4 days left on the deal!

And another pro tip - if you sign up to the stacksocial mailing list, you get another 10% off, so the price drops to $52 or something.

You can then immediately unsubscribe when you get the first email, which I did.

Also, I do not get commissions from that link, not sure if there is an affiliate id in the URL, if there is, it’s not mine! I found the deal via a Google search.

Using Getflix here. I’ve been getting the “you’re using a proxy” message a few times the last few days. Once was halfway through a show. Each time I’ve just reloaded Netflix and good to go.

Saw the error again this morning and nothing I could do would stop it. Eventually realised it was because I was VPN’d to work. I am not a smart man.

Same here, it’s been a bit dodgy lately but not sure if it’s because of Getflix or just my crappy router which is on the way out.

Netflix has upped its game and really blocking getflix quite effectively lately. Any tips to make it work? I’ve given up on appletv and persisting with iPad.

I got the proxy error on my iPad eventually, I’ve simply turned off Netflix, in Getflix, making do with AU Netflix which is good enough for me now I caught up with all the shows I wanted. Plus, Getflix works fine with other options like ABC and NBC, HBO, Hulu, CBS etc. Also I am finding more stuff to entertain me locally on catchup.

On Getflix, where are settings for Hulu? Is that bundled in one of the channel sets? I can’t seem to see any reference to Hulu? :frowning:

There is no Hulu setting, it just works.

So as @kyte said, just switching to AU Netflix would mean I’m on the Aussie Netflix but still get Hulu without issues?

Switching regions isn’t an option for me right now as the stuff I’m watching is US only.

As I said reloading Netflix seems to take care of the problem in the short term.

Yes, while you’re using the Getflix DNS servers, Hulu will be accessible regardless of the region set for other services such as Netflix.

Don’t switch to AU Netflix. The Australia server is meant for non Aus people. Just Turn Off and you will get the default for your country. HUlu works as long as the DNS is working

My netflix stopped working today and on checking my Getflix subscription has ended yesterday even though it was an auto renewing paypal transaction.

I was able to manually set it back up, but Paypal is not longer an option and they are using “Bluesnap” as the payment gateway. Anyone know what’s changed? I don’t seem to have anything via email telling me about any changes.

Hmmm I’ll have to check on my subscription too.

I have previously read articles saying that paypal were blocking payment options to companies that were assisting the pirating of content and companies providing software to enable bypassing licensing restrictions.

More recently I read that paypal had started blocking payments to VPN companies.

I’m not really surprised that Getflix have gotten caught up in this.
