News app notifications (sound) and Catalina

I have upgraded to Catalina, and now have sounds whenever there is a notification from the News app.

I want to keep the pop-ups and disable the sound. Unfortunately there is no preference option or a check box under in the Settings app.

I must be missing something… wondering if anyone has managed to fix this?

Seems like a bug.

thanks. Just need to find a fix… (it is quite annoying)

Depending on what you consider an acceptable fix, I believe you can turn off ALL notification sounds. Otherwise you can spend a little time and replace the Apple News notification sound, if you can find it in the bowels of macOS.
