Received my new MacBook Pro on Friday. Sweet little machine. (I went for the one with a full keyboard, no touchbar.)

That looks really like a cool idea. Really, really ugly though. Gamers would like it though, which explains the looks. 
I seem to recall there were rumours of apple doing something similar in an new external display. If it did it would probably just put desktop AMDs in instead of Nvidia 1080s though with no ability to upgrade. And then Apple seems to be promoting those truly ugly $K and 5K displays from LG. So probably a lame, wouldn’t it be nice rumour.
I heard those rumours about a GPU in a new 5K display. I never understood why that was needed (TB3 being able to do 5K). But I would LOVE to be able to make a MacBook Pro with TB3 my main mac and have a hot GPU at desk to run lots of displays (I run 4 currently). I wouldn’t need a Mac Pro anymore then.
