Apple's return to a hardware and the departure of Jony Ive

I’ve been thinking about this for a while now, but has anyone noticed that since Mr Ive left Apple to start his own design agency that the focus on hardware has returned to Apple’s products?

For starters, we had the new MacPro unveiled at the start of June and Ive’s departure being announced at the end of the same month. Apple Execs would have known for a long time prior to this that he was looking to leave.

That could be a one off instance, however, since his departure they have realeased a thicker :open_mouth: iPhone to accomodate a larger battery.

Most recently the 16" MBP has been released with a keyboard that isn’t form over function and has a huge spec bump when compared to the earlier models.

What are everyone’s thoughts on this? I am starting to wonder if Mr Ive was running rampant without Jobs around to temper his form over function desires.
