By all accounts, Apple’s second quarter financial results were bad. But just how bad can $10.5 billion in profit be, anyway? In this case, maybe it’s only bad when put into context: Six Colours explains that it was Apple’s 10th most profitable quarter of all time, and third most profitable second quarter of all time. That said, it’s kind of hard to ignore how big of a year 2015 was for Apple, at least financially.
The numbers from Apple’s financial results yesterday paint a slightly more positive picture, provided you ignore the year-on-year figures buoyed by an incredible 2015 and the launch of the iPhone 6. App Store revenue is up 35%, Apple Pay is on the up-and-up, and more Android users are switching than ever before. Apple even has 13 million Apple Music subscribers, up from the 11 million it had in February.
