IMG_7572Ars Technica kicks us off this morning with a preview of iOS 10, which covers all the cool new features missing from the iPad, as well as features that require newer iPhone or iPad hardware. Their overview is the first I’ve seen that covers new features in the built-in iOS mail client, as well as how the new iOS universal clipboard works with macOS Sierra.

One of the headlining features of iOS 10 is undoubtedly the new lock screen, which puts a fare greater emphasis on Notification Center widgets than ever before. Swipe to unlock is gone, replaced by the same set of widgets you’d see in the Today view of your Notification Center. The Verge also says Control Center in iOS 10 is much improved over its previous iterations.

Mashable profiles Jordyn Castor, a 22-year old female Apple engineer that was born blind and is now a member of Apple’s accessibility design and quality team, where she continues to drive accessibility features and innovation in Apple software.

Apple is set to pay $25 million to license a patent related to displaying a chronologically-ordered stream of information, such as in Cover Flow or Time Machine.

The first-ever iOS developer academy will open in October 2016 in Naples, Italy. The nine month iOS development curriculum, developed and supported by Apple, will provide students with practical skills and experience developing apps on the latest Apple hardware and software, as reported by MacRumors.

Apple has made searchable transcripts of the WWDC 2016 session videos, just in case there was something you wanted to look up but didn’t want to watch entire sessions for it.

The latest update for Apple Maps adds 29 locations to Flyover, also expanding traffic and transit to a handful of countries and cities.

Interestingly, the first 64-bit version of Office 2016 for Mac is now live via Microsoft’s Insider Fast preview channel.

An Apple support article describes how the F8 key does not work when attempting to boot into Windows when a USB keyboard is connected to the Thunderbolt display, suggesting that users plug the keyboard directly into the computer instead. Perhaps this is the reason the Thunderbolt display was discontinued.

Ben Brooks compares both sizes of the iPad Pro, saying that while there’s issues with both iPads on their own, you should ditch your Mac and own iPads for the real magic.
