Time Machine backup unable to browse

Hi,

I have a Time Machine backup on an external drive WD MyThunderbolt Duo, last back up was made in 2022 on my old 2016 MBP which has since had its logic board replaced and I am unable to browse the history of my backup, I have also tried this on my M1 MBP still unable to browse history. Is this normal behaviour.

Disk Utility picks up no errors, I can do a full restore using Migration Assistant from it.

Not sure on this one but if I were to take a guess I would assume the backup is encrypted. Hence why with a full restore you can authenticate with your appleid/username password.
May have to do some searches around accessing encrypted backups.

The disk is not encrypted, I will check again, however I am able to browse using Finder including hidden files under Library
