For me it’s a news (I use that term very loosely!) site www.stuff.co.nz so that I can try and know what’s happening in the world.

“Open a new Tab” (ie the Chome default).
I keep considering switching that to Gmail since I use the web view for that these days.
On my Surface it’s also the new tab page in Chrome but IE is still at the two year old and default page of (for the never I use IE) :

I used Top Sites.
You might want to take a look at Mailplane it’s great and I can highly recommend it and I use it every day to access all my Gmail account’s.
(Re)start my browser?
I’ll second that. Its really just a wrapper for the gmail browser but its effective. I no longer use it because I only have one account now but it was great for multiple accounts.
